Tiger Company
The Regiment’s 4th Battalion was nicknamed the “Tigers” after its predecessor regiment, The Royal Leicestershire Regiment. The 4th Battalion was reduced to a company in 1970 and was finally disbanded in 1975.

In addition to their basic skills, infantrymen undertake specialist training, for instance, to become snipers, radio operators, anti-tank gunners, mortarmen or medical orderlies.

Each regiment has its own Colours which are paraded on ceremonial occasions. The Royal Anglian Regiment’s Colours carry the battle honours awarded to its ancestor regiments.

The 1st Battalion, nicknamed the Vikings, celebrates the Battle of Minden 1759 every year on 1st August. It is often a fun occasion and a chance to dress up!
