The Royal Anglian Regiment Museum was opened in June 1996 by Mr Martin Bell OBE, the BBC journalist who, as a National Serviceman, served in The Suffolk Regiment, one of The Royal Anglian Regiment’s forebears.

The Museum was constructed with money raised from an appeal to serving and former members of the Regiment, the general public and businesses and local authorities from the ten counties of the Regimental area. The Museum Trustees gratefully acknowledge all those who so generously supported this initial appeal; the names of the principal donors are displayed in the Museum. They also thank all those who have donated to the Museum since its opening and whose generous contributions have enabled significant enhancements to be added to the displays.

The Trustees wish to thank Alix Baker FRSA AFAS for her kind permission to use her pictures to illustrate the history of the Regiment and the Imperial War Museum for its kind permission to use its photographs of the museum’s interior.

They also wish to thank Mr Rod Leonard of www.iim.co.im, an ex Pompadour, who has most generously sponsored the site and to place on record their gratitude to Mr Robert Plumb (son of Mr Keith Plumb, ex 3rd Battalion) who designed and donated this Website to the Museum and who continues to maintain it.
